Bayern wanted a loan deal, but Chalobah wasn't interested in moving to Nottingham Forest

Mauricio Pochettino handing £500,000 of Chelsea transfer money to Ivan Toney could raise eyebrows in next January's transfer window.

Brentford and England striker Ivan Toney has been rumored to be linked with a number of clubs including Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur ahead of his return to soccer.

Although the summer transfer window has just closed, Chelsea already seem to be looking at potential signings for next January. Ivan Toney was one of their early targets, but Tottenham are also keeping an eye on him.

According to a report from the Evening Standard, Chelsea are considering Ivan Toney as a backup option for next January's transfer window. Despite having signed three strikers over the summer, including Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku, who they brought in earlier in the window, and Nicolas Jackson, it appears that they are still looking to bolster their attack.

While Chelsea signed 17 new players of various ages during the summer transfer window, their main focus was to sell players in order to raise funds. They managed to achieve this, raising over £25 million through player sales. Trevor Chalobah could be the next player to be sold and it has been reported that he could be joining Bayern Munich and although a deal was not agreed before the deadline of the summer window, it is expected that talks will resume in January next year.

Chelsea are currently offering £500,000 and if Bayern are willing to meet that offer then Chelsea could let Chalobah go and are expected to benefit from a move for Toni. Toni's price tag is estimated to be around £8 million and Chelsea and Tottenham could be in the running to sign him along with Arsenal and Liverpool. Either way, next January's transfer window looks set to be a much-anticipated one, and Ivan Toni could be one of the players in the spotlight.
