Manchester City extend Alvarez's contract until 2028

Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has renewed his contract with the team, which runs until the summer of 2028. The City squad also congratulated Alvarez.

Alvarez, a 23-year-old Argentine striker nicknamed La Araña, joined City on loan from River Plate in January 2022 and joined in July for a fee of €21.4 million. Since joining, Alvarez has made 33 appearances in all competitions, contributing 10 goals and 3 assists, raising his price from €20 million to €50 million.Argentiina Messi Pelipaita

Alvarez is also an Argentine striker and Messi's right-hand man. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Alvarez put in a great performance, scoring four goals and one assist in seven appearances, and contributing two goals and one assist in the semi-final to help his team eliminate Croatia 3-0. In the end, lifted the Copa Libertadores with Argentina, winning honour and glory for the country.

However fans felt that Alvarez's salary did not outweigh his outstanding performances and there were further rumours that Alvarez would leave City this summer for a team that would offer him more salary and playing time. Now that the contract extension has been announced, the rumours have been dispelled. But perhaps it was City's fear of Alvarez leaving that brought the extension forward.Argentiina Pelipaita 2023

After completing the extension, Alvarez said: "I'm very happy to continue to do what I love in a City shirt, my family is just as proud of me and I'm grateful to the team for believing in me enough to give me this opportunity, I'll give it my best shot! Do you think Alvarez will be of value at Manchester City? Come along and discuss!
